Arif Maskatia is a retired Chief Technology Officer of Acer Group. He has over 40 years of advanced systems architecture design and development expertise specializing in low-power system solutions that do not compromise on cost, performance, and usability of a product for emerging applications.
Arif is an industry-recognized fellow who developed the industry first IBM compatible PC in 1983, which got Multitech (now Acer Inc.) and MiTAC International started in the PC business and birth to Taiwan ODM industry. He then went on developed the industry first MS DOS Poqet Computer. He then started the Acer Advanced Technology team in Silicon Valley to architect and develop industry first award winning advanced portable products (AcerNote Nuovo, TravelMate Series) based on projected market and technology trends (10 hours of operation with single battery), a Pentium class biometric sensor secure PC.
During his career of 19 years at Acer, among other accomplishments he made notable alliances with technology partners to develop many exciting products to market, such as the industry’s first convertible Tablet PC with Microsoft’s Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system, the first Qualcomm Snapdragon based Android Smart Phone, the NVidia T3 based 10” Android OS based Tablet, and the first Google Chrome OS based Chromebook.
He has excellent and respectful relationship with all world class Taiwanese ODMs and Silicon Valley technology partners.

His hands-on managerial leadership and detailed technical knowledge has led many small and large corporations to huge financial success.

What excites Arif is the fast growth in Mobile technologies, which creates challenges, opportunities for innovation, and new business opportunities. His focus is on creating new mobile scenarios and technology productization and bringing new products to market that provide users with great value and make them more productive.
Arif has received his BS and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca NY in 1972 and 1973 respectively.
